Happy November!
Iāll be honest with you, I donāt know where October went! My husband traveled a lot this month so that may be where it went. Drop off, pick up, dinner, bed on repeat. Itās not always my favorite thing but let me tell you when he said he was going to San Diego for a week I didnāt moan once. He was pretty confused as to why I was so open to him being gone for a week, but quickly understood the night before when I told him he needed to bring an empty suitcase to the States. The poor guy didnāt know what was waiting for him in his hotel room! If youāre an American who lives overseas I know you know what Iām talking about. My goodness, do I miss American products! š
Letās just say Nyquil has been my best friend this last week. Itās that time of year when I get sick every single time right before Halloween. Itās like clockwork. But as I emerge from my sinus fog and my thoughts begin to clear we are already in November. Itās probably one of the hardest months for me here in Norway. The trees have lost their gorgeous colors and the Christmas lights havenāt been hung yet, itās dark, windy, and cold. So Iām lighting extra candles, and playing music after daycare pick-up. Luckily the girls and I have been getting lost in arts and crafts and puzzles between dinner and bedtime. Itās something we donāt do as much when the sun is still high and the girls only want to be playing outside, so this seasonal change of activities has been a welcome gift these last few weeks.
Iām curious to hear what you do to get through November. Any favorite music playlists or activities I can add to our rotation?
I take the month of December off, so the next āResourceā post will be in the New Year. If you are a paying member, your membership will be paused and you wonāt be charged š
As always.... my monthly ponderings and gatherings collected just for you
š§ What Iām thinking about: Periodontitis (Gum disease) goes up in the postpartum and people donāt talk enough about it. So if you are postpartum and havenāt been to the dentist in a while go get a gum check-up. Letās just say my bank account hurts more than my mouth!
š What Iām reading:Ā Reading this currently. But went on a bit of a David Sedaris binge this past month and I loved this one and this one. Next up Iām hoping to dive into this one. He makes me laugh out loud. Literally!
š What I'm Eating: Made this last week and its the perfect late autumn dish.
š§ What Iām listening to:Ā A lot of music these days to keep my mood up. Iāve also been teaching yoga every other week so I thought I'd share my latest yoga playlist.
šŗ What Iām Watching:Ā Iām late to the game but after a week in bed, I binge-watched two shows that came out last year. This one and this one. Loved them both.
š» What is bringing me Joy: My mother gave me my great-great-great grandmotherās diary from when she was 15 years old in 1873. She wrote everyday for an entire year. It was the year she got married and got pregnant. I think so much about her and what life must have been like being pregnant and postpartum in Victorian times. So much so that I bought this book to learn more.
Thanks for being here everyone!!
Are there any books, shows, podcasts or recipes youāre loving lately? We have a comment section now and Iād love for you all to add to it! Would be so fun to have a monthly recap of what everyone is loving š„
I always love hearing your list!!
Iāve been enjoying these books:
ā Goodbye, Things by Fumio Sasaki
ā Soothe by Nahid de Belgeonne
⢠The Opt Out Family by Erin Loechner
ā Even After Everything by Stephanie Duncan Smith
The last one is by someone who lives in my city and itās all about risking love after loss (she had two miscarriages). Itās so beautiful!!
And I want to get back into one called Invisible Labor by Rachel Somerstein, which is all about cesarean births!
